Nursing Schools for Your BSN Degree

Before you can be a travel nurse, you need to be a Registered Nurse (RN). This usually means getting your BSN degree from a formal nursing school.

BSN degree programs (bachelor’s of science in nursing) are usually around 4-5 years in length. BSN degrees encompass general education prerequisite classes followed by core nursing classes, and culminate in the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) exam, the official registration exam to become an RN.

Nursing schools are designed to prepare you to be an RN, which means technical subjects, communication skills, and a lot of other subjects to be learned. Nursing schools are not a picnic. However, Getting your BSN degree from a good nursing school and becoming a travel nurse can be a very lucrative adventure, so most say it is worth it.

After Nursing School

Once you have graduated from nursing school, passing the NCLEX-RN and getting your license is the next step. You may also need to consider getting licensed in more than one state for travel purposes. Read more on nurse licensing.
